Description:
This research project is both an empirical research as well as the development of an analytical framework to more comprehensively assess architecture, landscape and urban design projects in today’s context of environmental imperatives. This analysis framework moves beyond an assessment of environmental performance alone, aiming to reconcile both environmental performance requirements with the material and formal expressive qualities of todays’ building.
There is a fundamental lack in ecological design assessment methods in this area, specifically for helping to develop deep integration of the environmental strategies and technologies into the overall architectural and constructive vision of the final building. IDEAS-BE has been working on this framework in conjunction with the professional architecture community in Montreal.
