Analyzing Ecological Architecture Beyond Performance

Funding : Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC IG) + CURC

Description: This research project is an empirical study of ecological architectural projects from around the world between 1996-2016. This work aims to help better understand how the dominant doctrines of environmental efficiency, as a systematic approach, influence the formal and environmental qualities of architecture today. This critical tension between the formal (includes among other qualities, materiality, composition, color, flow) and the environmental qualities (includes among others, quality of air, energy and water efficiencies, quality of light, site disturbance, and regional priorities) is the focus of this work.
